ISP PITF INVESTIGATES SILVERIO VILLEGAS GOMEZ OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING DEATH.

In May of 2026, the Franklin Park Police Department requested the Illinois State Police (ISP) Public Integrity Task Force (PITF) investigate the September 12, 2025, officer-involved shooting death of Silverio Villegas Gonzalez in Franklin Park, Cook County, Illinois.  PITF has begun the investigation and when complete, the case will be turned over to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office for review.

ISP is committed to timely and thorough investigations. ISP does not discuss open and ongoing investigations to protect the integrity of the investigative process. We are committed to transparency and when there is information that is appropriate to share, ISP will do so as soon as possible. Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have video of the incident or video of the location near the time of the incident, are asked to submit their information using the form below.
